I agree with this. I think many, many people take refuge in humor when something scares them. But I don't think in this case it's the best way to treat it. I'm afraid you have to look it right in the eye.

On the other hand, a lot of people - and some that I've known - aren't afraid of it or trying to hide from it or anything. They just plain find it funny. Obviously the people who make macros like the one above aren't hiding some sort of fear.

Like you, I would not even be able to count the women I know who have been abused. If I sat down and tried really hard to think about all the times I've been groped, shoved, smacked around, any kind of assaulted, I could probably do it. But it wold take me a long, unpleasant time.

I'm so glad you feel that way about my Dad. That's how I think of it, too. When someone starts to bully me, I think, "What would Dad do?" Then I tone it down a few notches because I can't get away with all of that. ;D
