He's actually kind of small, not a red-tail.

They don't really strike with their beaks, but if you're holding their legs they will try to nip your fingers. THey're not too likely to snap it off, but it could hurt. One of the techs at work got nipped by a red-tail and it drew some blood, but not a lot.
