I'll never understand how anyone can write RPF or RPS beyond the occasional cameo in a real-world fic. Ever. Ever ever. It's disgusting, it's intrusive, and really, how the hell can you get any kind of plot out of it? Bah, what am I saying...the only fantasy involved is masturbatory, not creative.
Then again, I'm probably more uptight about that kind of thing than most people, as I would even feel uncomfortable writing fic about live-action movies or TV series. To me, it still feels like I'm making people my puppets because there are real people with real faces and real thoughts behind those characters. As in, if I were to write Buffy fic, I would end up wondering how Sarah Michelle Geller would feel about having to perform the situations I'm writing, and I certainly don't have her okay.
I would only ever write fic for an animated movie/series or a book, because there are no real faces attached to those characters. It's the only way that I can feel comfortable with using characters that aren't my own.
