I actually tried yesterday to convince myself that Trisky's ribs were the same on both sides, but couldn't quite do it. On Saturday night I felt along the top side of her ribs on the left and noticed another asymmetry. This one felt like a lump, one I couldn't move around freely.

So, pretending to myself that I was just taking her in for her senior checkup, I called this morning to see if tomorrow was free. I spoke to Tricia and told her that I had also found a lump that was concerning me, and Tricia said, "they're super busy tomorrow, but today we're just sitting around looking at each other. Can you bring her today?" So I did.

Dr. Jenn poked around and prodded at Trisky's various cysts and things like that, took a bunch of aspirates for cytology, and almost couldn't feel the one I'd found at first. When she did, she said--to my ovewhelming relief--that it was probably just a fatty cyst. This one just happens to be between her ribs, and harder to move.

Also, she almost didn't feel the difference in shape that I had first started to obssess over late last week, but when she did, she seemed a bit perplexed. A part of the senior workup is X rays, so Tricia and I took Trisky's X rays and I developed them, holding my breath in anxiety.

Again, nothing. No masses, no discrepancies, nothing unusual. Just nothing. Dr. Jenn felt her ribs again, and then so did Dr. Dan. They both agreed that she was probably just born slightly asymmetrical and had always been like that, and I just noticed it now.

Thing is, I think I had noticed it on and off through the years, and had just assumed it was positional. During the last few years Trisky had put on about ten pounds, and since January I've had her on a diet and on light food, so she's lost all that weight. That probably just made it more prominent, and combined with my neurosis, made it seem a lot worse than it was.

I'll get her blood test results back tomorrow, and cytology as late as next week, but in the meantime, everything looks fine and Dr. Jenn thinks there's nothing to worry about.

So I won't worry. ^_^
