Flavor of the Week is Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I'm not going to give you all crap about how he chooses daring roles and is a very brave actor and intense and talented, although I think that all of that is true. In fact, I didn't know any of those things until I saw a few of his movies, and I didn't decide to watch a few of his movies until I saw him for like five seconds at the end of Bend It Like Beckham and then went online to see who the hell he was and found a bunch of pictures of him. The truth is that he's blindingly pretty.

I could also bore you with my ravings about how blindingly pretty he is, how I can't look at him for too long because he's too goodlooking, how he reminds me visually and in some other ways of Joaquin Phoenix (maybe it's the eyes?) although I honestly could sit here and ramble about that for another hour. But, there is a funny story to this.

So when I get a Flavor Of The Week, I send pictures to some of my friends and to my Mom. Usually the main recipent, aside from my Mom, is my friend Nancy at work. I love Nancy to death; we amuse each other and she puts up with me better than most people, so I know when I send her pictures of men we're going to have some sort of fun conversation the next day. So I sent her a handful of pictures, and then the next day, as I usually do when I have a Flavor Of The Week, I brought one in to hang in the kitchen. Often there will be some hot guy or another posted in the kitchen at work, and often I'm the only one who thinks he's any sort of hot: Owen Wilson, Christopher Walken, Jason Isaacs, etc. (Although we all do tend to agree on Joaquin.)

This is the pic I brought in this time.

As I was leaving for work, my Mom was outside taking hte garbage out, and she saw the picture in my hand as I was getting into my car. She said, "Why are you bringing in tha tpicture?" I told her, "Because it's Jonathan Rhsy Meyers and he's to keep me company today." She said, "Oh! I thought it was a picture of you!"

O_o

That's a new one.

Anyway, I got to work and I taped it right up on the cabinets over the sink.

So then Nancy comes in and tells me she got my email. I ask her what she thought, and she says, "He's not your usual type; you usually like them more rugged and less, uhh, pretty. He's good looking, but the other thing I noticed is that he really looks a lot like you."

In a way, this makes me feel like a hottie...but a male one.

So there's the picture hanging up in the kitchen. Then Casse comes in--you know, my very fun and perverted girl Casse, who always gets me in a good mood even if I'm breathing fire when I get there. She sees the picture and says, "Uhh, why are you hanging up a picture of yourself?"

Now I start to get a little freaked. Next comes Brittany, the youngest girl there, she works some weekends (which I never do) and covers a bit during the holidays. She's very sweet, very naive, and thinks anyone in their mid-twenties and up is old and scary. She sees the picture and says, "Eww, he's ugly! Wait a second, that guy looks like you!" Uhh, thanks.

Then came Amanda with "That guy could be your cousin" and best girl friend Tricia with "Wow, talk about a resemblance!" and Jenn W. with, "What, is he related to you or something?"

I swear by this time they were all just teasing me to see me get flustered. Especially when Casse got started on, "Does this mean that you secretly want to make out with yourself? Let's look at the deeper meanings behind this."

So, in the spirit of being funny:

Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Me.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Me.

Hee.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers looking surprised and trashy.
Me looking surprised and trashy.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
Me.

So I think in this case the "resemblance" is in the willingness to dramatically throw oneself on the floor. (FTR, that picture of me was taken by Tricia at the Christmas party at Atlantica this year. No, I hadn't had too much to drink, or anything to drink other than cranberry juice; it was just that Casse had said or done something really funny and I threw myself on the floor laughing, and then Tricia said, "Your hair looks neat like that, let me take a picture!"

So there it is. I look like a boy. A pretty boy, but a boy, still. ;D

Besides, did you people know that the love of this boy's life was Toni Collette? There's a little bit of Hollywood gossip for ya. I don't normally indulge in it because I usually don't care, but like I said. This month. Hormonal. Depressed. Curious as to what this lovely young man defines as "beautiful." I've always thought Toni Collette was beautiful and she's been one of my favorites since I saw her in The 6th Sense, but did you know that she's actually a week younger than me? Because to me, she'd always looked older. And you know what else? She's talented and she's not disturbingly skinny. In fact, I'd even go so far as to call her normal--it's party of why I admired her the way I did.

This fact makes me like JRM even more. :)
