Total, absolute fun. Kim got here at around 8, and first we went to Pancakes House, then we stopped at the store so she could buy a disposable camera, then we headed right out. It only took us 2&1/2 hours to get upstate. Kim co-piloted, otherwise I would have been totally lost. But I drove over the Throgs Neck and Tappan Zee bridges which I've never done myself before (someone else has always been driving whenever I go over those bridges,) and it was really sort of empowering! We listened to all sorts of music from all over the world, and we talked mostly about politicsand various other world-related things. Kim is a great friend, the best kind of friend a girl can have.

When we got there, I had to get into my costume and makeup, and as some of you know, I was doing Raistlin Majere. This is not an easy costume, what-with the gold skin and white hair and hourglass eyes. But I did it totally, down to the dried rose petals and bloodied cloth (I painted it last night, dude, I even did blood splatter, it was fun!) And I made my own bag. Very, very few people recognized me--mostly just people getting a kick out of the contact lenses. "What strange eyes you have, milady!" Me: "That's 'Sir Mage!' I'm a boy, damn you!" The ones who did get it though, they really liked it! One group of geeks applauded when I threw rose petals and coughed into the cloth, it was hilarious. One guy yelled out, "Hey, Raistlin!" and when I turned around he said to his friends, "See, I told you it was Raistlin!" One woman who worked there dragged me over behind the desk to show me her Annotated Chronicles book that she had brought with her. And the last guy came up to me, turned me around by the shoulder and said, "The eyes...Raistlin...my god..." and then pressed his hands together and stuttered for a while. (The eyes are really, really disconcerting.) I screwed it all up by giggling like a complete girl when he did that.

Finally I got to see the knife-throwing show, which was cute, and the joust, which was pretty freaking lame. Actually, I saw more of the Faire this time than I ever have in the past.

Oh, and the things I bought! I finally got the matching chain-mail ring-bracelet (slave bracelets, some people call them,) to the one I've had for years. I have the belt, too, and the head piece, which I never wear. And I bought this really awesoem necklace, and then these metal looped hair wraps, too. And I found plum blossom scented perfume! My god, I've been looking for that since I first watched Kenshin.

Mostly we just walked around, looked in the shops, bought a few things and chatted. When my boots finally rubbed holes into my socks, let me tell you, that Staff of Magius was a freaking lifesaver; I leaned on it the whole time. ;) I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I would, because I guess it was hard to keep reaching into my bag to get the camera out from under all the other nonsense I had in there.

Most fun of all was just road-tripping and hanging out with a good friend. On the way home, we listened to more music, and Kim played very weird songs by this German band and translated them. I was cracking up during the whole CD; it was very entertaining.

And here I am! And praise be to my car, who made it to Southold and back, Hampton Bays and back, and upstate NY and back on just over a half a tank of gas.

I'm so tired, I feel like I've been awake for days. My computer is still jacked with spyware, even though I bought Web Root's Spysweeper and have run it no less than four times since yesterday. I've got this goddamn search bar on my browser, and unwanted links on every single one of my pages, everytime the words "flowers" or "date" or music" or anything like that occurs. And I know that when I post this those are going to link, and I'm going to be pissed off.

But later, or tomorrow, because I'm still so happy about all the fun I had today!

And tomorrow...Booyah! Time to get the Halloween stuff out. ^____^
