quick weekend recap

A question for my comptuer savvy friends: Last night I had to shut down my computer, and right before I did I got a message saying that other people were logged into my computer, and if I shut down they might lose their data. WTF?! Is this normal, or is it bad?

Yesterday my cousin Stacey came out to spend the night. We went to see Wedding Crashers which I thought was funny, but she hated it. Today I went to Cathy's and held the puppies, one of which will be mine come September. Something exciting to look forward to.

Boy I met being very confusing, wants to talk to me but doesn't seem to have anything to say to me, ever. Getting frustrating. Why do I bother anymore?

After Stacey left, Spencer showed up with his Mom and she dropped him off. He's staying till Tuesday. Growing up too quickly IMO, worrying me over some things.

Meghan is coming over tomorrow and she'll stay till Friday.

That's about it.

Do you have multiple accounts on your computer? If so, someone probably was still logged in, and merely switched users to whatever account you shut down with.

No, that's the thing; it's just me, and I live alone. O_o

What are you running for an operating system? Windows XP? If so, check to see if you have Service Pack 2 installed (right-click, properties on My Computer - should say so on front panel). Another way to check and see if you have holes in your computer is to run the Services management console (Start, Run, services.msc). Look for the Messenger service, and make sure it says "Disabled" under Startup Type. (It's not the same thing as MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger.)

Thanks so much, I'll try both of those things.
